Cristen has lived in Oxford since coming to UM for a Masters in Southern Studies in 1993. She received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt and grew up in Jackson, MS. She is self-employed in print ad sales, has three children under age 11 in city schools, and decided to get more involved in local politics after her work to defeat Initiative 26 (Personhood) in 2011.
